FOR THE LOVE OF SANRIO & HELLO KITTY

Sanrio has created over 450 loveable characters since its inception in 1973. Most notably the little white cat known as Hello Kitty.

Originally founded in 1960  as the (Yamanashi Silk Company) The enterprise produced everything from silk to sandals, with a floral motif. It was noted that by adding a cute design to the sandals, popularity increased. The company then acquired the Japanese licensing rights to the Snoopy comic series. By 1973 the company was officially established as Sanrio.

Today, Sanrio includes the notable characters Keroppi, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and the little black rabbit Kuromi as just a few of the favourites.

The Sanrio philosophy is  "nakayoku". The meaning translates in English to "getting along together" Everyone wants to be happy. Sanrio believes in creating smiles one person at a time and spreading the circle of happiness even further afield.

Today Sanrio provides a variety of social, communication and gift products including collaborations with the eco-friendly company Baggu. And yes, you can even fly a Hello Kitty airplane from Chicago, USA to several destinations in Asia.

  • I was not a hello kitty girl when I was younger. But as I’ve gotten older, and I’ve had a daughter of my own, I’ve really come to love Sanrio and their philosophy. It’s cute, wholesome, and fun. Baggu collaborating with them was really just the icing on the cake. 🥹

  • I’m such a sucker for the BAGGU x Sanrio collaborations. I collected Sanrio from traveling relatives when I was a kid and so treasured those items. These invoke such childhood nostalgia in me whenever I see the prints and I especially love using them now that I have children of my own — passing down the Sanrio love! Thanks for carrying them ❤️
